Add wreck diving to your skill set with the SSI Wreck Diving specialty out of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. You learn survey, mapping and safe line-handling techniques transferable to wrecks worldwide, with foundation dives on the dramatic volcanic walls, overhangs and drop-offs of the Galapagos. You earn the SSI Wreck Diving certification on completion.
SSI Wreck Diving teaches survey, mapping and safe line use within recreational limits. It counts toward SSI Specialty Diver and Master Diver recognition and complements the Deep Diving and Enriched Air Nitrox specialties.
Wreck-skills dives run from Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz, using deeper rock-and-wall sites such as Bartolome and Cousins Rock and the drop-off at Beagle Rocks to practise survey and line work in current. Galapagos is a big-animal reef destination rather than a wreck hotspot, so the focus is on transferable technique on volcanic terrain.
