Course overview

Explore one of the Mediterranean's largest collections of shipwrecks with the SSI Wreck Diving specialty in Malta and Gozo. You develop survey, navigation and safe-approach skills on well-known purpose-sunk wrecks such as the Um El Faroud tanker, the Rozi tugboat and the Gozo passenger ferries, most resting upright in clear water. You earn the SSI Wreck Diving certification, ready to explore wrecks worldwide.

• Navigate around and survey large submerged structures
• Recognise wreck hazards such as entanglement and sharp edges
• Use reels and lines for orientation and limited penetration
• Maintain precise buoyancy to avoid silt-outs

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer / Open Water Diver with experience
• Comfortable buoyancy and navigation skills
• Medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Survey & approach

   Academics plus wreck-survey and reel dives on an accessible wreck such as the Rozi tugboat or a patrol boat.
2. Day2
   Larger wrecks

   Further dives on a major wreck like the Um El Faroud, refining navigation and limited-penetration technique, then certification.
