Course overview

The SSI Wreck Diving specialty in Muscat takes you onto Oman's submerged shipwrecks around Fahal Island and Bandar Khayran, now coral-covered havens for reef life. Through SSI's flexible digital theory and a series of dives you master wreck navigation, surveying and safe approach techniques on these atmospheric sites. You finish certified as an SSI Wreck Diver.

What you’ll learn

• Plan wreck dives within recreational depth and safety limits
• Navigate and survey a wreck to build a mental and drawn map
• Identify wreck hazards and avoid entanglement and silt-out
• Use reels and lines for orientation around structures
• Maintain precise buoyancy near fragile wreck surfaces
• Choose and rig equipment suited to wreck diving

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• Solid buoyancy control and comfort at 18-30m
• Medical statement and physician sign-off where indicated

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Digital theory & survey dives

   Complete SSI online modules and dive the wrecks near Fahal Island to practise surveying and orientation.
2. Day2
   Mapping & certification

   Finish mapping and line-handling dives at Bandar Khayran, then certify as a Wreck Diver.
