Wahoo are extreme high-speed pelagic predators, long slender bodies, vertical blue tiger-stripes on iridescent flanks, jaws lined with razor teeth. They cruise reef edges and seamounts hunting flying fish, squid, and bait schools.
Speed estimates from sportfishing tagging suggest 70+ km/h burst capacity. Underwater encounters are sudden, a flash of blue-silver, a strike on a bait ball, and they're gone.
