The PADI Deep Diver specialty at Sipadan extends your limit to 40 metres so you can explore the walls that plunge into the blue off Sipadan Island. You learn deep-dive planning, gas management and how to recognise narcosis while descending past schooling barracuda, reef sharks and turtles along the drop-offs. It is a good fit for divers drawn to this region's deep-water reefs and pelagic action.
PADI Deep Diver involves four dives to a maximum of 40 metres, the recreational depth limit, and counts as a specialty toward Master Scuba Diver. Enriched-air and deeper technical diving require separate training.
Deep dives use the steep walls and drop-offs around Sipadan Island, which fall well past 40 metres into the blue and hold reliably good visibility during the April-to-October season. Access can depend on the daily Sipadan permit system.
