Course overview

Push your recreational limit to 40 metres with the SSI Deep Diving specialty at Sipadan, exploring the sheer walls that drop into the blue off Sipadan Island. You learn deep-dive planning, gas management and narcosis awareness while watching barracuda, reef sharks and turtles patrol the drop-offs. It is a natural specialty for divers chasing the deep-water reefs and pelagics this Sabah region is known for.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct dives to a maximum of 40 metres
• Monitor air supply and set turn-pressures at depth
• Recognise and manage nitrogen narcosis
• Apply no-decompression limits using a computer
• Plan safety stops and contingency gas
• Adapt to colour loss, cooler water and longer ascents

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent (Open Water minimum)
• Comfortable buoyancy and air-consumption control
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician
