Course overview

The PADI Deep Diver specialty on Tioman extends your safe diving range to 40 metres so you can reach the island's deeper pinnacles, walls and wreck sites. Across four dives you learn to plan deep dives, manage gas, recognise narcosis and handle the practicalities of diving the deeper reef structures that lie offshore from Tioman's sheltered bays.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute dives to recreational depths down to 40 metres
• Manage gas supply, time and no-decompression limits at depth
• Recognise and respond to nitrogen narcosis
• Set up and use a safety stop and deploy a surface marker buoy
• Monitor colour and light changes and adjust for the deep environment
• Handle deep-dive emergencies and contingency planning

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• Comfortable buoyancy and air management at depth
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Deep planning and first dives

   Knowledge review, then two dives building depth while practising gas management and narcosis awareness.
2. Day2
   To 40 metres

   Two further dives reaching recreational maximum depth on Tioman's offshore pinnacles, with SMB and contingency drills, then certify.
