Course overview

The SSI Deep Diving specialty on Tioman extends your safe range to 40 metres, opening up the island's deeper pinnacles, walls and wrecks. Across the specialty dives you learn deep-dive planning, gas management and narcosis awareness on the offshore reef structures that sit below Tioman's shallow boulder gardens.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute dives to a maximum of 40 metres
• Manage gas, time and no-decompression limits at depth
• Recognise and manage nitrogen narcosis
• Deploy a surface marker buoy and perform controlled ascents
• Adapt to reduced light and colour at depth
• Plan for deep-dive contingencies and emergencies

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent
• At least the logged-dive experience required by SSI standards (typically around 24 dives for deeper limits)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

1. Day1
   Deep planning and first dives

   Academic review, then dives building depth while practising gas management and narcosis awareness.
2. Day2
   To 40 metres

   Further dives reaching recreational maximum depth on Tioman's offshore pinnacles, with SMB and contingency drills, then certify.
