Course overview

The PADI Divemaster course at Netrani Island is your first professional rating in scuba diving. Netrani is a reef off Karnataka's Murdeshwar coast, reached by dive boat across clear, fish-rich water. You build the stamina, dive theory and supervisory skills needed to guide certified divers and assist instructors. On completion you are a certified PADI Divemaster, qualified to work in the dive industry anywhere in the world.

What you’ll learn

• Lead and supervise certified divers on boat dives around Netrani's reef
• Master dive theory across physics, physiology, equipment, decompression and the aquatic environment
• Conduct dive briefings, site set-ups and surface management
• Demonstrate all twenty-four scuba skills to a clear, instructor-level standard
• Assist a PADI Instructor with students in confined and open water
• Plan and map a dive site and run search-and-recovery and deep-dive scenarios

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another agency)
• PADI Rescue Diver certification
• Emergency First Response (primary and secondary care) within the past 24 months
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation & water skills

   Course overview, paperwork and the stamina and water-skills assessments, including timed swims and the tired-diver tow.
2. Day2
   Dive theory & exams

   Work through dive-theory modules and sit the knowledge exams covering physics, physiology, equipment and dive planning.
3. Day3
   Skills & boat-dive practice

   Polish the 24 demonstration-quality skills and join boat dives to Netrani Island to practise guiding and surface management.
4. Day4
   Practical workshops

   Run dive-site mapping, search-and-recovery and deep-dive scenarios in the reef's 5-to-30-metre range.
5. Day5
   Internship & assessment

   Assist instructors with real students, complete the final assessments and certify as a PADI Divemaster.
