Course overview

Sharpen your underwater navigation with the PADI Underwater Navigator specialty in Muscat, learning to find your way around Oman's reefs at Bandar Khayran and the Daymaniyat Islands. Over three dives you master compass technique, natural navigation and distance estimation so you can lead the way back to the boat or anchor with confidence. You certify as a PADI Underwater Navigator.

What you’ll learn

• Navigate accurately using a compass on reciprocal and square patterns
• Use natural references such as reef contours, light and depth
• Estimate distance by kick cycles, time and tank pressure
• Mark and relocate a specific underwater point
• Plan and follow more complex multi-leg navigation patterns
• Lead a dive and return reliably to the start point

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• Basic comfort with buoyancy and trim
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Compass & natural navigation

   Cover navigation theory, then dive a Bandar Khayran reef to practise compass headings and natural references.
2. Day2
   Patterns & certification

   Run square patterns, distance estimation and point relocation on a Daymaniyat dive, then certify.
