Course overview

The PADI Night Diver specialty shows you Koh Tao's reefs after dark. Over three night dives at calm sites such as Japanese Gardens and Twins, you learn to navigate and communicate by torchlight while looking for octopus and sleeping parrotfish, with bioluminescence glowing at every fin kick.

• Plan and conduct dives safely after dark
• Communicate using torch signals at night
• Navigate and maintain orientation in low light
• Manage buoyancy and the team using limited references
• Identify nocturnal marine life and bioluminescence
• Enter, descend and exit safely at night

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & sunset briefing

   Cover night-diving planning and torch-signal communication, kitting up at sunset.
2. Day1
   First night dive

   Make your first dive after dark at a calm site such as Japanese Gardens, practising torch signals and orientation.
3. Day1
   Further night dives

   Complete two more night dives spotting octopus, hunting lionfish and bioluminescence while refining low-light navigation.
