Course overview

The SSI Night Diving specialty lets you experience Koh Tao's reefs after sunset. Diving calm sites such as Japanese Gardens and Twins by torchlight, you learn night navigation and light signalling while encountering octopus, hunting lionfish and the bioluminescence that lights up the dark water.

The SSI Night Diver pathway

The SSI Night Diving specialty is taught through the digital MySSI platform and counts toward SSI Specialty and Master Diver recognition. It builds skills in torch communication and low-light navigation.

Where you'll dive in Koh Tao

Night diving uses Koh Tao's calm reefs like Japanese Gardens and Twins, with warm 28-30C water and easy shore or boat entries. Expect octopus, hunting lionfish and glowing plankton; visibility is best from March to May.
