Course overview

Earn your first full scuba qualification with the PADI Open Water Diver course on Bangaram Island, training in the calm, crystal-clear lagoon of India's only true tropical-island resort in remote Lakshadweep. Over confined-water sessions and four open-water dives on the coral reefs you learn to plan, execute and enjoy dives independently. You finish certified to dive to 18 metres anywhere in the world.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, use and care for scuba equipment
• Achieve neutral buoyancy and control your position
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator underwater
• Manage your air supply and plan dives with tables or a computer
• Perform safe descents, ascents and safety stops
• Handle common problems and out-of-air situations

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water Diver) or 15 for the full rating
• Able to swim and be comfortable in the water
• No prior diving experience required
• Diver medical questionnaire; physician clearance if indicated

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and confined water

   Complete the knowledge development and first confined-water skills sessions in the lagoon shallows.
2. Day2
   Skills and first dives

   Finish confined-water training and make your first two open-water dives on Bangaram's reefs.
3. Day3
   Final dives and certification

   Complete the final two open-water dives, demonstrate your skills and earn your Open Water Diver rating.
