Course overview

The PADI Open Water Diver course on Mauritius's sheltered west coast earns you the world's most recognised entry-level scuba certification. Over three to four days from Flic-en-Flac you master core skills in the calm lagoon, then complete four open-water training dives to 18 metres on reefs like Aquarium and Snake Reef, meeting turtles, clownfish and reef fish. You finish certified to dive independently with a buddy worldwide.

Prerequisites

• No certification required (entry-level course)
• Minimum age 10 (Junior) or 15 for full certification
• Basic swimming ability (swim 200 m, float 10 minutes)
• Able to complete a medical questionnaire (clearance if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and confined water

   Knowledge development and the first confined-water skill sessions in the calm Flic-en-Flac lagoon.
2. Day2
   Open-water dives 1 and 2

   First two open-water training dives on a shallow reef, applying core skills in open water.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives 3 and 4

   Final training dives to 18 metres at sites like Aquarium or Snake Reef, then certification.
