Course overview

Become a fully certified diver with the PADI Open Water Diver course in Raja Ampat and earn the licence to dive independently to 18 metres anywhere in the world. You learn in the calm, warm shallows around Mansuar Island, then complete four open-water training dives on the reefs of the Coral Triangle. This PADI dive course builds the skills to dive this biodiverse region with confidence and is the foundation of recreational scuba diving.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, use and maintain complete scuba equipment
• Master all core skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Achieve neutral buoyancy and good trim
• Plan dives and use tables or a dive computer
• Handle common problems and out-of-air procedures
• Dive independently with a buddy to 18 metres

Prerequisites

• No certification required to start
• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water) or 15
• Basic swimming ability and water comfort
• Complete a medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Knowledge development

   Work through the academics and exam, covering dive theory and equipment.
2. Day2
   Confined-water skills

   Practise all core skills in the calm shallows around Mansuar Island.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives 1-2

   Complete the first two open-water training dives applying your skills on local reefs.
4. Day4
   Open-water dives 3-4

   Finish the remaining dives to 18 metres and earn your certification.
