The PADI Open Water Diver course in Rasdhoo Atoll makes you a fully certified scuba diver. Warm 27-30°C water, visibility above 25 metres and sheltered reefs near the island make it a good place to learn. Over three to four days you progress from confined-water skills to open-water dives, and you finish certified to dive to 18 metres anywhere in the world with a buddy.
PADI Open Water Diver is the world's most popular scuba certification, requiring four open-water dives and certifying you to dive to 18 metres with a buddy. eLearning can be completed before arrival to shorten in-water time, and the certification is recognised worldwide for life.
Open Water training uses the sheltered shallows beside the island for confined skills and calm reef sites such as Veligandu East and Holhi Faru for the open-water dives, where visibility above 25 metres and frequent turtle and reef-shark sightings make learning memorable. The November-to-April season offers the most settled conditions.
