Earn a recognised entry-level rating with the PADI Scuba Diver course out of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. Across a few days you complete the first knowledge sections, confined-water skills and two supervised open-water dives in sheltered Galapagos shallows where sea lions and turtles roam, qualifying you to dive to 12 metres with a PADI professional. It is a flexible stepping stone toward full Open Water certification.
PADI Scuba Diver covers roughly the first half of the Open Water Diver course and limits you to 12 metres under professional supervision. It can be upgraded to full PADI Open Water Diver by completing the remaining knowledge sections and open-water dives.
Training uses the sheltered, low-current sites near Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz, such as Santa Fe and calm bays where sea lions and green turtles gather. These protected shallows suit a first certification, well away from the archipelago's stronger currents.
