Course overview

Take your first breaths underwater with SSI Try Scuba in Fiji, an introductory programme that guides total beginners from a confined-water session into the warm soft-coral reefs of Beqa Lagoon. With an instructor beside you the whole time, you experience the basics of scuba and explore a shallow tropical reef, with no prior experience or certification required. It is a simple taste of Fiji diving.

What you’ll learn

• Breathe underwater comfortably on scuba
• Equalise ears and clear the mask
• Recover and clear the regulator
• Achieve basic buoyancy and underwater movement
• Use simple hand signals to communicate
• Stay safely with your instructor on a shallow reef

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• No experience or swimming certification required
• Reasonable comfort in water
• Complete a brief medical questionnaire
