Course overview

Launch your dive-pro career with the SSI Divemaster certification in Moalboal, Cebu. Based around Panagsama Beach, you develop dive-guiding ability and stamina on the house reef and on boat trips to Pescador Island. You learn to lead certified divers and support instructors using SSI's digital training system in the warm Visayan waters, and you finish qualified to guide certified divers and assist with training programmes.

What you’ll learn

• Guide certified divers and lead dive tours on the house reef and at Pescador Island
• Assist SSI instructors during training and supervise dive activities
• Complete watermanship and stamina evaluations to professional standard
• Map dive sites, deliver briefings and manage dive logistics and safety
• Apply the SSI dive-leadership and Science of Diving knowledge
• Use the SSI digital platform for logging and student support

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer / Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
• SSI Diver Stress & Rescue (or equivalent rescue certification)
• Current emergency-care (CPR & first-aid) certification
• Specified number of logged dives (build-up dives can be logged on site)
• Diver medical questionnaire / physician's clearance where indicated

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Foundations & theory

   Programme orientation, Science of Diving review and watermanship/stamina assessments off Panagsama Beach.
2. Day2
   Skills & confined water

   Refine the demonstration-quality skill circuit and assist confined-water sessions.
3. Day3
   Mapping & guiding

   Map the house reef and practise leading certified-diver dives.
4. Day4
   Assisting instructors

   Support instructors and boat crews on open-water dives, including Pescador Island trips.
5. Day5
   Internship & assessment

   On-the-job guiding experience and completion of final practical and theory assessments.
