The SSI Divemaster course at Nusa Penida starts your professional diving path, qualifying you to guide certified divers and support SSI training programmes. Leading groups through the drifts of Toyapakeh and the cold currents of Crystal Bay builds the tide-reading, briefing and group-management skills that define a strong dive guide. It is the foundation rating for the entire SSI professional pathway.
SSI splits leadership into Dive Guide and Divemaster ratings, both earned through your free SSI digital account and recorded in your online logbook. SSI Divemaster lets you guide certified divers, assist instructors and is the prerequisite for SSI instructor training.
Training spans sheltered Sental and Sampalan for skills demonstration and drift sites like Toyapakeh and Crystal Bay for guiding practice, where current and cold thermoclines are part of the lesson. The dry season from April to November gives the steadiest conditions and best big-animal encounters.
