The SSI Open Water Instructor programme takes you from guiding to teaching on the UNESCO-protected reefs of Baa Atoll in the Maldives. Working through SSI's digital training system, candidates practise teaching presentations in the warm lagoons around Dharavandhoo before the SSI Instructor Training Course and evaluation. You graduate authorised to certify divers within the SSI professional community.
SSI certifies instructors through an authorised Instructor Training Centre and the SSI Instructor Evaluation. As a teaching professional you certify divers using SSI's digital, performance-based system and gain a recognised, renewable instructor rating logged in your MySSI account.
Training uses the sheltered house reefs near Dharavandhoo in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Warm 27-30°C water and easy conditions let candidates focus on teaching technique before working with real students.
