Course overview

Dive Fiji's reefs after dark with the SSI Night Diving & Limited Visibility specialty around Beqa Lagoon and Pacific Harbour. Through SSI academics and open-water night dives you work on light handling, navigation and communication while meeting nocturnal hunters, sleeping reef fish and bioluminescence. It certifies you to plan and enjoy night dives.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct night and low-visibility dives
• Use a primary and backup light effectively
• Maintain navigation and orientation in darkness
• Apply light and touch communication signals
• Identify nocturnal species and night behaviour
• Manage entries, exits and buddy procedures after dark

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior) or 15
• SSI Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician where required

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Academics & first night dive

   Complete the SSI night academics and light-handling drills, then make your first guided night dive.
2. Day2
   Navigation & final dives

   Run further night dives focused on navigation and nocturnal life, and complete the evaluation.
