Course overview

See a different side of the reef with the SSI Night Diving specialty on Kadmat Island. After dark the Lakshadweep atoll's reef changes character as nocturnal hunters take over. You learn light handling, night navigation and buddy communication while diving this hidden world over your training dives.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct a night dive safely
• Enter, exit and navigate the reef in darkness
• Manage a primary and backup light and light signals
• Communicate clearly with your buddy using torch signals
• Recognise nocturnal marine life and its behaviour
• Hold buoyancy and orientation with limited visual reference

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• SSI Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Comfortable basic buoyancy and navigation
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician
