Course overview

Become a certified diver with the SSI Open Water Diver course in Fiji, earning the globally recognised qualification to dive to 18 metres. Training on Beqa Lagoon's sheltered soft-coral reefs, you progress through SSI's digital academics, confined-water sessions and four open-water dives on sites such as Pearl Rock. SSI's flexible, performance-based approach gets you certified for life in warm, clear water.

What you’ll learn

• Set up, use and care for scuba equipment
• Clear the mask and recover the regulator
• Master neutral buoyancy and underwater control
• Perform safe ascents and safety stops
• Handle out-of-air and buddy emergency procedures
• Plan dives within recreational limits

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior) or 15
• Able to swim and float comfortably
• No prior diving experience required
• Complete a diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if indicated)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Academics & confined water

   Work through the SSI digital academics and practise core skills in confined water.
2. Day2
   Open-water dives 1 & 2

   Apply skills on the first two open-water dives at a sheltered Beqa Lagoon reef.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives 3 & 4 & certification

   Complete the final dives and digital certification as an SSI Open Water Diver.
