Course overview

Build the skills to prevent and manage dive emergencies with the SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course in Tarkarli-Malvan. Training in the sheltered, shallow bay beside Sindhudurg Fort and the calm Konkan waters lets you focus on recognising stress, performing tows and running rescue scenarios before applying them on the boat-accessed reefs offshore.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and manage diver stress and panic
• Perform self-rescue and tired-diver tows
• Search for and surface an unresponsive diver
• Give in-water rescue breaths and exit a casualty
• Plan and coordinate an emergency response
• Prevent problems before they escalate

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior)
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or 24 logged dives (or equivalent)
• Current React Right (CPR and first aid) or equivalent within 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & self-rescue

   Cover stress management and practise self-rescue and stress recognition in the calm shallows.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Drill tired-diver tows, panicked-diver response and in-water rescue breathing in the sheltered bay.
3. Day3
   Open-water scenarios

   Run full missing-diver and unresponsive-diver scenarios on boat-accessed reefs near Sindhudurg Fort.
