The SSI Wreck Diving specialty teaches you to explore wrecks safely and responsibly, a good fit in Trincomalee where the WWII HMS Hermes lies offshore and smaller wrecks dot the Nilaveli coast. Across your training dives you learn wreck survey, mapping and hazard management, gaining the skills to enjoy these historic sites on Sri Lanka's east coast.
SSI Wreck Diving is a recognised specialty that counts toward the SSI Specialty Diver and Master Diver ratings. The deep HMS Hermes is a technical dive, so recreational training uses shallower wrecks.
Trincomalee's wrecks range from the offshore HMS Hermes to shallow wrecks north of Nilaveli, giving you varied training structures during the calm May-to-September window, with April and October still diveable on either side.
